About Sarah
I have always had a fondness for movement and discovered at an early age that movement can be used to heal the body from pain, stress, weakness, and so much more. I was introduced to human anatomy in my college years through dance and biology. I began to explore yoga philosophy and movement as a way to manage stress and to stay healthy. I knew I wanted to integrate yoga and serve others in healthcare. With my deepening interest in human anatomy... physical therapy was unquestionably the path for me. To this day, I still enjoy working with dancers of all ages. Their passion for movement is something I relate to and I want to be the person I wish I had, who explained the importance of strength training and injury prevention for my life beyond dance.
When I began my career, I wanted to try it all. I had clinical experience from infant to geriatric care. I have worked with athletes, neurological disorders, vestibular dysfunction, and all orthopedic issues in between. I began to realize that the benefits of yoga therapeutics were severely underutilized in the clinic. I saw a gap that needed to be filled and focused on getting my Professional Yoga Therapist certification so I could fill that gap. With over 2,000 hours of training, this certification taught me that there is so much more than just physical therapy exercises to improve someone's quality of life, health, pain, stress… and the list goes on.
My approach as a practitioner now is to simply take more time to listen, understand, and guide you through better quality care.
I will always be grateful for my years of mentorship at Goodemote Physical Therapy. I was taught so much and was allowed a space to create an authentic treatment approach. I learned that I really enjoyed connecting with women of all ages and empowering them to feel good, strong, and healthy.
I have experience in treating pre- and post- natal issues, and pelvic floor problems.
I have been involved in teaching for the local osteoporosis exercise group “Healthy Bones for Life”.
I provide One-on-One and Small Group Classes using exercise to improve bone mineral density through safe weight lifting and yoga.
I have written articles on the role of physical therapy and yoga for osteoporosis treatment which you can view in my blog.
Although my passion lies in treatment for women’s health, yoga, and dance injury and prevention, I am skilled in treating all of your physical therapy needs. I embrace the concept of treating the “whole” person and teach you how to build a better relationship with your body through movement. I blend the science of physical therapy with the philosophy of yoga to guide you in exploring the possibilities of your own physical wellbeing. My intention is to empower you to know that you are performing exercises safely while getting the most therapeutic benefit.
